MINIS TAKE OVER: GOODWOOD 2016

On a cold December morning, 100+ MINIs descended upon the historical surroundings of the Goodwood Motor Circuit in Chichester, West Sussex, for the inaugural MINIs Take Over Goodwood event and all to raise money for Marie Curie.

30 lucky drivers were let loose on the historic tarmac alongside a host of Mini Challenge Race Cars, including this years Open Class Champion, Keith Issatt.

For those not wanting to pedal their own pride and joy around but still take to the track, passenger rides were on offer provided by Sussex Road & Race. Those willing, were strapped in and told to hold on tight for a thrilling few hot laps in these small but mighty race cars.

The day was brought to an abrupt halt on only the second lap as one driver got a little out of shape through Fordwater and "kissed" the tyre wall. Thankfully the Marshalls were quick to recover the MINI, repair the tyre wall and the day was in full swing once more!

At the strike of 12:00 the track fell silent as 50 or so MINIs lined up on the grid for an exclusive photo opportunity, followed by a few parade laps. The silence was broken as track action resumed at 13:00pm.

The day was not only about those taking to the track. The paddock was also host to a MINI trade village with support from LuxeMINI, DetailMonkey, Devilsown, Atomspeed, AMS Fabrications and Partridge MINI of Hampshire all with their products on display.

We also had a number of awards. Firstly, Atomspeed selected their Car of The Day with John Hammond taking this very special trophy home in his infamous JCW Clubman. At over 3ft tall and weighing 15lbs it really was unique trophy! LUXEMINI had organised a "People's Choice Award" where everyone could vote. Robyn Harrison was the very deserving winner with her one of a kind Coupe.

A huge thanks to all those that joined us and helped to raise a total of £900 for a great cause.
